Well I have given up trying to get my Garmin Nuvi to work under VirtualBox, it's just *broken*.
Every other USB device I have eventually managed to get working with Virtualbox, sometimes it takes a little perseverence but one can get there in the end. The problem with the Garmin Nuvi devices is more subtle somehow. I have tried two in quick succession (for reasons unrelated to the failure to work under VirtualBox). The symptoms in both cases were identical. The Garmin Nuvi SatNavs pop up quite OK on the Linux host as Mass Storage devices and one can see the files etc. on them. However if you capture them in a Windows guest all you get is an Unknown USB device whose drivers are not installed. On a *real* Windows XP system the Garmin Nuvi appears as *two* USB devices, one mass storage device and one 'custom' device which communicates with installed Garmin software. I wonder if the 'two USB devices' is what confuses VirtualBox. I'd love to get this working because the 'real' Windows XP system I have used to install and update the Garmin software is decidedly flakey and running out of disk space. Is there anything I can do to diagnose and/or help debug this problem? I'm quite happy to put a bit of effort into it. -- Chris Green _______________________________________________ vbox-users mailing list vbox-users@virtualbox.org http://vbox.innotek.de/mailman/listinfo/vbox-users
