Hi Virtualbox mailing list!

I am posting this thread after getting no response on the forums. I'm hoping someone can help me.

I am using Virtualbox on a Debian Sid Laptop with bonding on the Wireless and Ethernet Interfaces.

I had hoped this would allow me to never need to swap the guests bridged adapter and instead always use bond0. Unfortunately when i'm working on Wireless the guest loses network access.

On Debian my network interfaces file looks like this:

Code: Select all Expand viewCollapse view
   # The loopback network interface
   auto lo
   iface lo inet loopback

   # Bonding interface
   auto bond0
   iface bond0 inet dhcp
     bond_mode active-backup
     bond_primary eth0
     bond_miimon 100
     bond_downdelay 200
     bond_updelay 200
     wpa-ssid wifi
     wpa-ap-scan 1
     wpa-psk wpapass
     wpa-scan-ssid 1
     wpa-iface wlan0
     slaves eth0 wlan0

So I end up with an interface called bond0 which steals the MAC from eth0 and enslaves eth0 and wlan0 so I can switch seamlessly from Ethernet to Wireless and visa versa without losing my IP on the network - very handy.

But for an unkown reason Virtualbox doesn't like this and will only operate when the eth0 is connected even though the guest is bridged on bond0.

Anyone have any idea how I can get Virtualbox working this way?
