Nothing weird, just an incorrect approach.
Your choices
# rpm -e VirtualBox
# rpm -ivh VirtualBox-3.0.0_49315_fedora9-1.i386.rpm

or simply
# rpm -Uvh --nodeps --force VirtualBox-3.0.0_49315_fedora9-1.i386.rpm
As I do a lot of testing of the latest vanilla kernels, I often do this after booting the new kernel.
