I have completed the prototyping of openldap, samba/pdc, named, and dhcpd services on a vbox appliance.
Appliance details: 512MB RAM, 8MB Video RAM, 9GB VDI with 1GB Swap and CentOS 5.3 64bit). The setup works fine with 4-5 different desktop clients connecting to the services. Now I am considering deploying this appliance into production with 1GB RAM. I will be cloning the VDI and use the cloned VDI for the LDAP replica, samba BDC, named secondary etc. (with the appropriate config. changes for the services). The no. of clients connecting to the services is approx. 100. Has anyone deployed critical services listed above in a vbox appliance?
