Greetings --
My desktop computer host system is Kubuntu Jaunty (9.04).
My desktop computer guest system is MacroHard WinDoze XP Pro.
I have a 32-GB USB drive, presently formatted for WinDoze.
I also have a NetBook by Acer, running WinDoze XP Home.
There are (many and large) files now (properly!) found on the XP Pro
(guest) system which I want to (1) backup and (2) copy (legitimately!)
to the XP Home (NetBook) system.
I am presently unable to see a way to get those many files onto the USB
drive for either purpose. My WinDoze XP Pro (guest) cannot "see" the
USB drive at all -- and "hesitates" to do the copy to ANY folder! I
admit that this is a rather massive copy, but file-size does not seem to
be the issue!
I feel that I have a second problem. I have "successfully" copied the
WinDoze XP Pro (guest) ".vdi" to the USB (previously; I have NO idea why
that much worked before and doesn't now!). However, the source appears
to take 7.8-GB, but the target (on the USB drive) takes something like
25-MB. This does NOT sound like my idea of "success"!!!
I am FAR from an expert in these matters, and would respectfully request
that I be considered a Newbie in connection with this request for
direction.
Just so that my requests might be better understood, I have two
processes in mind. The first is backing things up so that I can delete
(or uninstall) VirtualBox-OSE version 2.1.4 and then install version
3.0.8. The second is making a copy of a major study-tool application
that can be taken with me -- while leaving the main copy of the
application on the computer that I use most regularly (the desktop
computer).
As always, I will gladly clarify anything that I have left "muddy" --
and I am MOST appreciative of any assistance granted. THANKS!!!!!!!
