I have installed Windows XP in VirtualBox on Ubuntu 8.04 for at least couple years now and it functions perfectly.
Yesterday I installed Chrome OS in VirtualBox again on Ubuntu 8.04 succefully. But when it came time to add the Guest Additions from the "Devices" in the Menu Bar, was impossible. So I tried to mount the Guest Additions Manually. I followed the instruction for the Linux Guest Additions. I checked for the DKMS and it was installed. The "VBoxGuestAdditions.iso" file was mounted on the Linux guest's virtual CD-ROM drive. through (Selecting "Mount CD/DVD-ROM" from the "Devices" menu in the virtual machine's menu bar and then "CD/DVD-ROM image". This brings up the Virtual Disk Manager) So when I "Select"ed the .iso file to download the Guest Additions. Nothing happened. I tested the same procedure with the Windows XP VirtualBox and easily the Guest Additions download started and installed. Now I read the following in the Help section: "Change to the directory where your CD-ROM drive is mounted and execute as root: sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run" What does it mean change to the directory where your CD-ROM drive is mounted?HOW? what the sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run got to do with the .iso? When I execute the above in Terminal I get the following: "viv...@vivake-desktop:~$ sudo su [sudo] password for vivake: r...@vivake-desktop:/home/vivake# sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run sh: Can't open ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run r...@vivake-desktop:/home/vivake#" I copied the Guest Additions on a CD and opened it and I found out "VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run". No matter what I did I couldnt open it, and I have been left the "mouse" trapped between the Chrome OS walls with guest host key to have the mouse moving and also not having a full page of the OS. Can anybody help to solve this problem with very simple words? PLEASE! Thank you and much obliged!
