Thanks. I read the user manual. I am running virtual box on mac os x with a
ubuntu 9.10 machine installed.
And I tried to use this command:

VBoxManage internalcommands createrawvmdk -filename /path/to/file.vmdk
      -rawdisk /dev/sda -register

But I don't know what is that parameter I should use for
/path/to/file.vmdk and /dev/sda?

And when I plug in my external hard drive, I now see 3 icons said
'disk1s1' 'disk1s3' 'disk1s4'.
