They are independent servers. So no matter how I do it, I will have to go over the network to get to the files on the CIFS shares. I guess the worry I have about using shared folders for access to CIFS shares mounted on the host, is one of file-locking. Some of the shares are accessed simultaneously by multiple guests, and Samba handles this without a sweat. But what happens if the access to the mounted CIFS shares are done through the shared folders file system? Hmmm, perhaps this is just me worrying needlessly about nothing. My level of experience with virtualization is rather low, having only worked with it for a few months. Some testing is surely required! :o) Thank you for your reply, Thomas
