Although it is somewhat MS centric, I found the stuff at
http://www.topxml.com/xsl/articles/xsl_transformations/
to have some nice docs. And there's of course the W3 specs but those
are hardly useable to get into something...

An xslt lib, some got integrated XML parsers, others rely on external
xml libs. I found the Gnome libxml/libxslt from xmlsoft.org to be
pretty good and currently use it for an inhouse project, both are
LGPL. That was, BTW, the reason why I proposed an XML mode: I think
it
shouldn't be a must to use the XML stuff but instead a compile time
switch between native HTML and XML output which then of course needs
some sort of XSLT lib to be of use...
