I use symlinks -bash-2.05b# l /var/vpopmail/etc lrwxr-xr-x 1 vpopmail vchkpw 13 Nov 15 21:59 tcp.smtp -> /etc/tcp.smtp lrwxr-xr-x 1 vpopmail vchkpw 17 Nov 15 21:59 tcp.smtp.cdb -> /etc/tcp.smtp.cdb What exactly is in your tcp.smtp files?
