After frantically trying to figure this out for the last hour and a half, and pulling my hair out like mad, i figured it out. i needed to restart mysql! why? no idea. cached, stale login data? modified vpopmail tables needed to be flushed/reloaded? no clue. if anyone has a clue, i'd be interested. but at least there are no more failed logins. whew.

no joy. the mysql restart seemed to 'fix' things for a while, but as of this morning, the problem is back, and being monday morning, worse. i'm now seeing that it's affecting pop3 users too:

Jun 6 06:22:59 NOTPOP vpopmail[10029]: [ID 314898 mail.notice] vchkpw-pop3: vpopmail user not found [EMAIL PROTECTED]:66.55.x.x

i'm getting swamped with support inquiries - 'can't log in'.

what am i missing? some accounts work, some not. there's no rhyme or reason to it.
