Date: Sunday October 17, 2010, 10:56:08 pm From: [email protected] Dear Sir/ Madam, Good day, my name is Chong Chun Yong, currently pursuing my master degree in Computer Science at the national university of Malaysia. For your information, our University have recently launched a research project title "On demand resource allocation using Cloud Computing". We are currently using VCL as the platform, enabling our university students to perform resource reservation through our private cloud infrastructure. So far our prototype has proven to be successful and we plan to migrate the whole system to a blade server. The part that I am in charge of is to design a software architecture of the entire system in order to migrate our server smoothly. In order to achieve that, I plan to perform an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) test to identify which of the software quality to prioritize in cloud computing environment. I would need around 20 participants who are experienced in VCL to conduct this test. The questionnaire would be in the form of pairwise comparison between several software qualities. The questionnaire is fairly simple as the participant would only need to provide score on the compared software quality. Thus, I am hoping that you would be kind enough to find several volunteers to help me in this questionnaire. I would be really grateful if this test can be conducted smoothly. I will send the questionnaire form once I got a green light from you. I sincerely hope that my humble request can be accepted. Hope to receive a favorable reply from you soon. Chong Chun Yong, It would be much better to ask this on the vcl dev list ([email protected]). There are many more people on that list that run VCL installations. Also, it would be useful to know what type of VCL users you need for your questionnaire. Do you just need people that are end users of VCL (people that just use it to make reservations)? Do you need people that are sysadmins of a VCL installation? Do you need people that can do a full installation of VCL? Do you need people that are developers of VCL? Specifying that would allow people to know if they would be qualified to answer the questions you will be asking. Date: Monday October 18, 2010, 10:33:04 am From: [email protected] Dear Josh, Thanks for the fast reply and feedback. I am very sorry for the lack of information provided in my first email. Basically my purpose of the questionnaire is to identify which software quality attribute to be prioritize in designing the system architecture of VCL that is going to deploy in my university. (Which is a private cloud that only provide access to students and lecturers in my university) As we know there are no way for us to fulfill all the software quality requirement in a system architecture due to conflict and trade-off between each quality attribute. Thus I believe that I will need system admins of VCL installation, as well as developers of VCL to participate in the questionnaire. Based on the experience of troubleshooting and developing VCL from this two user groups, I would like to know which software quality attribute have the higher priority compare to others. Typical end users might not be able to express their view correctly because they are not aware of the back-end operation. Once again, thanks for guidance and feedback.
