IIRC, mythtv had a feature built-in that skips ads automagically. Maybe a plugin could be written for VDR which provides the same function. Would be very cool and resolve the problem with seeking h264 recordings where the still frame will remain unchanged for several seconds and by the time it does change, its seeked several minutes. So with h264 ffw/rew you either seek no where or too far.
