I wrote those intro paragraphs because I hoped they might better explain
Velocity, especially to a new person.

The current Velocity homepage has an intro, but it is waaaaaay down the
page, and IMHO, not as well written. ;-)

I see the wiki as just an alternative way to edit the site via a much
lower barrier to entry.
 
(MANY folks have contributed to the wiki... because it's easy versus
creating/submitting a patch to the website takes which takes too much
effort.)

Codehaus.org and hibernate.org are two sites that use the wiki for
everything.

Personally -- I'd rather see more docs move into the wiki and have the
"website" just point to the wiki which..is..well, just a website with a
different means to edit it. ;-)

At the least, I'd like to see the most of the content on the wiki
FrontPage to be the FirstThing(tm) that people see when they visit the
Velocity site. :-)
