Seems a bit obscure - that's the first I've heard of any outside use of the Node hierarchy. I've always viewed this as an internal data structure. External usage is a little dangerous since it might change without notice. (though probably it's fine). It's unlikely anyone will implement this unless they are an interested party. Are you working on an IDE plugin? Perhaps you'd like to take a shot at this? By the way, I don't think this makes sense as a configuration option - wouldn't make sense to 99% of the users.
