Job Title: Teradata DBA

Location: Portland, OR

Job Type: 6 months Contract

Start Date:26th July

 

Job Details:

Minimum 5 years DBA experience with 3 years as a Teradata DBA in a senior capacity performing development, administration, implementation and support in a production Data Warehousing environment.

 

Responsibilities:

Senior Teradata DBA who will be responsible for administering and maintaining the Teradata databases of the production data warehouse.

 

Responsibilites Include:

* Maintaining physical implementation standards.

* Participating in analysis and creation of logical data models.

* Designing, creating and tuning physical database objects (tables, views, indexes) to support normalized and dimensional models.

* Maintain the referential integrity of the database.

* Assisting developers in tuning SQL and maintaining appropriate Priority Scheduler profiles.

* Working with ETL leads to formulate ETL approach and appropriately use Teradata Tools and Utilities.

* Providing ongoing support of the environment by developing processes and executing object migrations, security and access privilege setup, and performance monitoring.

* Experience using Teradata Manager to monitor and manage Teradata RDBMS resource utilization, and create alert policies for monitoring database space, average disk use.

* Expert level SQL skills, understanding of Data Warehouse Metadata concepts, tools and repositories.

* Runtime optimization, capacity management and planning, security, configuration, scheduling, and execution of maintenance utilities.

* Drive planning and execution of hardware/software upgrades and expansion.

* Shell scripting, system tuning and troubleshooting on UNIX. Unix System Administration. Backup/Restore design, setup, implementation, and management

 

Required Skills:

* Qualified candidates must be a senior level Teradata DBA, proficient in Teradatada tools: Teradata WinDDI, Teradata Manager, Teradata Query Manager, and Teradata's Priority Scheduler, BTEQ, MultiLoad, FastExport, etc.

* Must have experience in backup and recovery in the Teradata environment.

* Must have senior-level Teradata SQL (DCL, DDL, and DML) experience.

* Knowledge of database recovery and restart procedures is desirable.

* Teradata Certification(s) highly desirable.
