*Interview: Phone/Skype; MUST HAVE EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS.* *JOB PURPOSE & SUMMARY* Under general supervision, this position is part of a development team responsible for building or modifying Information Systems PeopleSoft Financials/SCM and/or PeopleSoft HCM. This position reports to the PeopleSoft Development Manager and takes technical direction from the manager and the PeopleSoft Technical Lead. This position supports, maintains and documents applications which are critical in supporting business operations. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Application Development (65%) • Code/build application solutions from technical requirements that are moderate to complex in nature Adhere to defined processes and procedures to ensure the quality of the technical solution. Implements and uses monitoring techniques ensuring optimal application performance during and after deployment. • Develop and execute unit tests and functional test coverage for assigned coding changes to ensure code quality. • Perform coding and programming tasks including testing, design, implementation, and testing of input/output, control functions, interlocks, sequences, operator interface and other control components; may receive guidance from senior developers. • Perform testing of application software modifications utilizing various programming platforms and productivity tools and review results for accuracy. • Adhere to defined processes and procedures to ensure the quality of the technical solution. • Troubleshoot control and communication problems, conduct operator training, and tune control loops. • Prepare for and participate in code reviews as requested. • Participate in upgrade evaluations to determine changes needed before implementation or how to leverage upgrade functionality. • Thoroughly document code changes. • Provide input on time estimates as requested. • Work with requirements/architect/technical staff. Conduct initial review of program specifications, design and/or requirements documents to ensure all specifications for coding are understood. • May alter existing test data or create new test data to ensure successful results of modifications to program code. • Create applicable test data to ensure successful results of program code. • May perform regression testing where applicable to ensure current changes have not impacted existing processing. • Collaborate with business units to gather information about production support issues as well as resolution requirements. Document findings/results. • Effectively communicate with management and user community at large to research processes, and resolve problems. • Understand internal processes to be able to evaluate and recommend automated solutions to leverage using current and/or new technology. • Identify impact of upgrades, patches, fixes and etc. to internal systems/processes. • Contribute to and utilize work plans, time estimates and project schedules for programming projects. • Modify program code by altering existing or creating new test data. • Research, recommend and implement new technologies, skills, and methods. Production Environment Support /On Call Support (25%) • May participate in the setup and support of the production environment • Provide on call support in support of application and system availability • Troubleshoot problems that may arise getting to the root cause to facilitate solving the problems. • Document the cause and resolution of outages in the System Info databases • Create/modify supporting structures as needed. • Troubleshoot issues to uncover root cause and provide solutions. • Monitor batch schedule and implement changes to the batch schedule to meet user requirements. • Interact and collaborate with staff from areas outside of Information Technology (IT) to participate in and/or organize projects that are short/long term. *NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES * Professional Development (5%) • Provide periodic status updates, time reporting. • Maintain technical knowledge • Recommend development/design process/procedure improvements Other (5%) • Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned to him/her on an as needed basis. *QUALIFICATIONS * EDUCATION& EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree computer science and two to four years of programming experience or relevant experience or certification in computer science, information technology and at least 4 years programming experience. Equivalent combination of skills, experience and training considered. Intermediate experience in MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel) Preferred experience qualifications: • Working knowledge and understanding of the student financial aid industry • See Appendix A *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT * • This position 24X7X365 on-call. The frequency of the rotation depends on the number of members in the team. On-call requires carrying a cell-phone and responding to calls within the agreed upon timeframe set within PHEAA’s standards.
