The Systems Engineer will be a member of the Global Technology Services
group. This team is accountable for the uptime and management of global
Server Technology Infrastructure. The Systems Engineer must have Vblock,
VMWare, Linux, Puppet experience.



The Systems Engineer, Global Technology Services will provide planning,
recommendations and be responsible for maintenance on all hardware and
software for Global Server Infrastructure and rollout of these strategies
both internally and externally. In general, responsibilities will include
any requirements regarding the server infrastructure environment, from day
to day systems administration to planning and management of server
Infrastructure with supervision from Sr. Team members.



Core Responsibilities:



1. Systems Engineering Support: 30%

•        Maintain Server Build Standard on all different supported flavors.

•        Maintain server availability and server security.

•        Perform scheduled standard patch management activity on Operating
Systems

•        Perform installations and configurations of multiple Operating
Systems

•        Maintain the automation of rapid server deployment and centralized
management of servers.

•        Develop performance management procedures for UNIX/Linux servers.

•        Manage and maintain server resources, globally, throughout the
enterprise.

•        Manage IT Staff relationships to insure service levels and
availability of all servers.

•        Manage outages, identify root cause and resolve all server issues
within allowed service levels.



2. IT Operations Support: 60%

•        Maintain the server inventory including physical and virtual
managed OS.

•        Install any software agent on platform.

•        Maintain the server monitoring solutions as defined by senior
staff members

•        Maintain the host backup solutions as defined by senior staff
members

•        Manage outages, identify root cause and resolve all server issues
within allowed service levels.

•        Participate in the daily production meeting to report the status
of production systems.

•        Participate in the change control, production acceptance and event
management processes.

•        Participate in the development of operational procedures and
policies.

•        Identify, resolve and escalate business issues as appropriate.

•        Manage after hours and on-call support.



3. Develop and maintain project plans for small to midsized system
projects: 5%



4. Provide oral and written status reports to IT management and customers:

Job Requirements:



Knowledge of:

-          Enterprise RISC based Server Systems Administrations (Power and
SPARC)

-          Enterprise x86 based Server Systems Administrations (Intel
Architecture, multi-vendor Blade systems)

-          Various Virtualization Technology experience (VMWare, PowerVM,
OracleVM, XEN, and etc.)

-          Various UNIX/Linux File Systems and Volume Management experience
(ZFS, JFS, ext3, VxFS, and etc.)

-          Enterprise Cluster Operation experience (HA, VCS, HACMP and etc.)

-          Experience in the Enterprise Database Support environment
(Oracle, IBM DB2, and Sybase)

-          Various UNIX/Linux Open Source Software Support Experience
(Apache, SAMBA, Tomcat, GNU Tools, and etc.)

-          Experience in large heterogeneous Server Infrastructure
environment



Skills In:

-          Strong interpersonal skills are required.  Ability to work
effectively with team members, clients and other areas of the IT environment

-          Strong written and oral communications

-          Excellent problem solving abilities, strong decision making
skills and make sound judgment decisions.



Ability To:

-          Work effectively with team members, clients and other areas of IT

-          Handle multiple tasks and be flexible in a fast paced environment

-          Deliver on time



Experience:

-          Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Unix/Linux systems
administrator.

-          Minimum 3 years’ experience with Sun Solaris or IBM AIX
operating system required.

-          Minimum 1 years’ experience with multi-tiered application
development required.

-          Minimum 1 years’ experience with Virtualization OS (VMWare,
Power VM, Oracle VM) required.

-          Minimum 1 year experience with Veritas Clusters or HA

-          Understanding of Oracle, Sybase and other Database platforms

-          Understanding of Storage Area Network

-          Experience with DEC/HP Alpha Computer Systems is a plus

-          Working knowledge with other systems technologies (Windows,
Network, SAN, etc.) is a major plus.

-          Bachelor degree or equivalent experience preferred.
