Right, but I somehow forgot to add in there that the data could be gotten from the registry with a script.

That's fine if you are on the client, but bpgetconfig is a tool in NetBackup that makes pulling data from the clients through the NetBackup ports possible. Incidentally, it's also a good troubleshooting tool to help verify connectivity to the clients.
