I can only speak to my experience which is that you only enter an SSO license key for each *server* using SSO -- not for each tape drive, and when we purchased the SSO licenses we only purchased per server. We had to buy 24 SSO tape drive licenses because we use multiple media servers that share the tape drives and backup many clients. There are SSO licenses for master/media servers and SSO licenses for tape drives. If you have stand-alone (can't remember the correct name) media servers, you don't need and shouldn't have SSO licenses for your servers and tape drives. In fact, you (I couldn't) can't configure an SSO drive without the SSO license key. So, either Gregg's installation isn't SSO or somehow SSO is implemented without the license keys.
