I had a similar issue once where everything worked except database backups. Its turned out (a the time) the same IP had two PTR records in DNS. Try nslookups of Host and PTR records on the client's names and IPs and see what you get back from DNS. Alternately hardcode the hostnames and IPS w/ host files and see what happens. -Jonathan

But when it comes to running the following command; /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bpbackupdb -v I keep getting 54 time out connecting to the client. When I run the bpclient command every thing comes back great. I use the following switches ( -pn -ip -hn -self).
