We've used the Windows admin console with a Solaris master server for
years. Since v4 through v6.

We put the Windows PC's host name in as a server on the Solaris master and
media servers.

SImon,
AFAIK, you can do what you mention, as long as you PC has permissions
to connect to the Master, either as a Media Servers or Additional Servers
under Host Properties -> Master -> Servers. You may need some entries in
a conf file on the Nix box as well, not sure there.

Going to ask a daft question here .... On my NBU CD there is an option to
install the NBU Tools on a Windows Desktop client.

Is it possible to install those tools on a windows client and still talk
to
a unix box?

It takes a while to list ~700 tapes here, I can only imagine 60,000, wow--
perhaps list your hardware configuration of your master/media servers, I
think 60,000 may just take awhile to list (for the first time you open the
lient, subsequent viewings of the tapes should be cached)
