Well, in my view, any errors indicate trouble, problems and more importantly, alot of investigation.
There is no acceptable number - if a job fails, you need to determine why. Is it linked to the same tape, same drive, same client, same stream, ect. Again, depending on the actual status code, it determines what troubleshooting path you go down. for example, the easiest method could be freezing a tape, or removing from the library, enable logging and try the backup again. Sometimes, cleaning the tape drives helps! If you are getting a specific error code, post back on the list for assistance. Thanks, Simon P.S. alot of troubleshooting guides from Symantec (old Veritas ones) for Status 8x codes BTW -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Floyd Endsley Sent: Monday, April 14, 2008 8:16 PM Cc: nbu Subject: [Veritas-bu] Netbackup 8X errors Question regarding Netbackup 8X errors. Is it acceptable to get 8X errors? Is there an acceptable number before we should start to get concerned? We had a high number of 8X errors and resolved most of them. (the bulk was from a bad tape drive). Now when we come across any 8X errors we would do a long erase on the media and put it back into the scratch pool. This has corrected some of the 8X errors as well but not all of them. Anyone have any other Ideas or suggestions on this issue? _______________________________________________ Veritas-bu maillist - Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu http://mailman.eng.auburn.edu/mailman/listinfo/veritas-bu This email (including any attachments) may contain confidential and/or privileged information or information otherwise protected from disclosure.
