Eeeewwwwwww.....That can be extremely ugly!!!! We've had to bring in
Netbackup Consulting Services to do this type of work so that the new
environment would be supported by Symantec after the move/migration is
done. It's isn't cheap, but it's is well worth a good working
environment.

I'm supposed to migrate a Master server version 5.1 from windows

migration without engaging Symantec Consulting Services? Any scripts
available to ease the process of migration?

It's been done but it is absolutely, positively not supported. If you
break it, you get to keep both pieces. It's not for the faint of heart
and to pull it off you'll be modifying binary files directly. It may
take you multiple attempts.

Depending on the size of your environment, you may find it easier (and
it's supportable) to set up a parallel environment on the new server and
start moving the clients to the new master. It makes it fun at restore
time since you have to know which master was responsible for the backup
at the time. If you don't have a lot of tapes, import the old tapes
into the new master. This is a supported operation and will get you the
media and catalog information into your new master. If you've got a
thousand tapes, though, this isn't going to be very practical.
