Are you sure this is something with duplications and not imports?

I don't see this behavior. I just duplicated an image I took last month
that has a 3 month retention. Here are what I think are the relevant
bits from bpduplicate.

Bpimagelist output before dup:
Backup Time: Wed 18 Aug 2010 06:00:30 PM PD (1282179630)
Expiration Time: Fri 19 Nov 2010 05:00:30 PM PS (1290214830)
Copy number: 1
Expiration Time: Fri 19 Nov 2010 05:00:30 PM PS (1290214830)
 retention_lvl: 3 months (5)

After dup:
Backup Time: Wed 18 Aug 2010 06:00:30 PM PD (1282179630)
Expiration Time: Fri 19 Nov 2010 05:00:30 PM PS (1290214830)
Copy number: 1
Expiration Time: Fri 19 Nov 2010 05:00:30 PM PS (1290214830)
 retention_lvl: 3 months (5)
Copy number: 2
Expiration Time: Fri 19 Nov 2010 05:00:30 PM PS (1290214830)
 retention_lvl: 3 months (5)
