Same here. Works really well. The only thing I am having concerns with are the speeds that we're seeing so far. We are getting about 35MB/s from each VM. What speeds are others seeing?
My only caution would be that you should be VERY careful when you present the datastore LUNs to the VM Backup Host. I would highly recommend testing it out with non-production datastores. You may notice some degradation in throughput on individual VM’s as opposed to physical servers but nothing a little careful scheduling can’t get you around. I really like the idea that my offsite backups are vmdk’s which can be restored and hooked up to any esx system. With windows VM’s you can also do granular restores. I hear in 7.1 we will be able to do the same with unix VM’s. We use this in conjunction with netapp smvi backups for our onsite backups. Very slick and very fast.
