On a quick check it appears the command does not come in with Linux client install but does with Linux media server install.
I notice on my Linux media server that I have both the Linux script AND the DOS bat file: ls -l /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies/bpstart_notify.bat /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies/bpstart_notify -r-xr-xr-x 1 root daemon 2116 Feb 3 2011 /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies/bpstart_notify -r-xr-xr-x 1 root daemon 3201 Feb 3 2011 /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies/bpstart_notify.bat /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies/bpstart_notify.bat: MS-DOS batch file text /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies/bpstart_notify: Bourne shell script text executable Notice the the scripgt does not have a suffix. I'm wondering if perhaps your Windows media server has both the batch file and the scrip? If so you may be able to transfer the file from your Windows media server to your Linux client. (Of course the question would then come whether NetBackup accepts bpstart from a client vs from a media server - I don't use bpstart so couldn't really guide you on that.) -----Original Message----- From: veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu [mailto:veritas-bu-boun...@mailman.eng.auburn.edu] On Behalf Of su_A_ve Sent: Friday, December 07, 2012 1:58 PM To: VERITAS-BU@MAILMAN.ENG.AUBURN.EDU Subject: [Veritas-bu] bpstart linux and multi streams Hi, Our implementation is running Netbackup 7.1 - master and media servers are running under Windows 2008 R2. We need to backup some Linux and Solaris clients for which we need to create local DB dumps prior to the backup of happening (LDAP for example and a calendar application). The problem is that the documentation indicates to use the included bpstart_notify and bpend_notify scripts located in the netbackup/bin/goodies directory. However, the servers only include DOS batch files - there are no unix/linux shell scripts. I created a simple script that exits with the corresponding error level code, but of course this seems to be running for every stream. So - a) where can I get a copy of these scripts for linux and/or solaris, and b) how to do I ensure these run once before any of the streams start to backup and of course it's done only once? Thanks in advance. +---------------------------------------------------------------------- |This was sent by ste...@rider.edu via Backup Central. |Forward SPAM to ab...@backupcentral.com. +---------------------------------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________ Veritas-bu maillist - Veritas-bu@mailman.eng.auburn.edu http://mailman.eng.auburn.edu/mailman/listinfo/veritas-bu Athena(r), Created for the Cause(tm) Making a Difference in the Fight Against Breast Cancer --------------------------------- CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This e-mail may contain privileged or confidential information and is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s).
