We currently have a customer that is tapeless the last 7 years.
We are using Data Domain as VTL and the common retention is one month. There
are backups of 1year and more.

Currently total backup size is more than 450TB with daily backup more than 3T.

Dedup is a life saver since all these data are kept in less than 40TB actual
size.

Those doing no tape what is your longest retention time?

We backup, but don't archive, with our backup systems. Nearly all

of our backups are retained for 3 months. Due to an event, a particular
backup may be retained for a long time.

Of course, as you keep backups longer, then the number of times you backup the
client data probably increases and the cost of each individual backup declines
(due to better dedup).
