Thanks. I had seen that and some others for RHEL6 source from rpmseek. Since
I already had the source I was just trying to see if anyone had found it from
official RHEL repositories.

Its more a curiosity than anything as it appears to be something RedHat knows
about but doesn’t really document very well. The mentions I found were about
a bug in the kernel-rt they ship but even those don’t specify what bundle or
repository includes that.

There appears to be an RPM here for Scientific Linux, which is a RHEL-alike:

Has anyone used the uname26 mentioned as work around for 7.1 client install on
Linux using 3.x kernel instead of 2.6.x kernel?

Link discussing use of uname26 is at Symantec:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH184987

However, it leaves you hanging on exactly what uname26 is or where you would
get it.

I found references to it for RHEL6 in kernel-rt/MRG bugs but didn’t find what
package would actually let me install it. I didn’t find anything other than
that on RedHat’s site and nothing regarding RHEL7 in relation to it.

I did finally find a site with the source code and makefile for uname26 and was
able to download and make it. Running “uname –a” without it shows my 3.x
kernel for RHEL7. Running “uname26 uname -2” shows a 2.6.50.x kernel instead.

We’re about to test the work around using that but I’m wondering if anyone
found this somewhere in the RHEL7 repositories?

NOTE:
Please do not tell me to use 7.5 instead of 7.1. The document mentions that
supports the 3.x kernel but then lists the uname26 with 7.1.04 as workaround
and it is the workaround I’m investigating.
