vxassist will just pick one or more disks with available disk space
until it has enough space to mirror the existing volume. You can give
vxassist more guidance, but I think "man vxassist" or looking at the
Volume Manager Administrators Guide can explain it better than I can.

There are certainly other ways to do this, but vxassist is the
recommended way, and frankly you are doing it the hard way if you go
looking for a different way to do it. Have you tried looking at some of
the documentation? These are really very basic questions that the
documentation addresses fairly well.

Take a look at the Volume Manager Administrators Guide, and/or the man
page for vxassist (the Admin Guide is probably easier to understand).

If I have more than one LUNs ..lets say if i have LUNs to mirror 5
volumes...will the command "vxassist -g <dg> -mirror <volname>" work?
How does vxassist know what disk to choose ?

Can I use vxmake to mirror the volume ?

Regards,
Ajay

No need to make the subdisk and plex - just add the new disk to
the diskgroup (vxdiskadm is the easiest way for a beginner). Then run
"vxassist -g <dg> -mirror <volname>"

        Hi All,

I created a volume consisting of a single plex and subdisk with
vxassist. I am looking to mirror it now. The storage person has
allocated me another disk of the same size . I intend to make a subdisk
and plex and then attach it to the existing volume . Will this activity
serve my purpose ? Please advise .

The command I used to create the volume - vxassist -g <dg> make
<volname> 30g <disk>

        Regards,
        Ajay
