no, at least i dont think so... ive got 6 repos, the largest is about 1gb (the majority of that is FLA and AI binary files), the rest are very lightweight.
I dont see an option for background checking - which sounds like it could well be a cause. in prefs all i see is filebrowser : check when window s become foremost...? Im not running anything else really - that would fire the even you mention (im just doing one man dev with some remote repos...) on a related note, versions will very rarely cleanly quit - it instead hangs with an alert saying "waiting for transactions to finish" - maybe connected..?
