I'm not planning to interface matplotlib with veusz. I did try making a
version using it but ran into a number of technical difficulties, as the
matplotlib interface wasn't very clean, and it was quite buggy. It's
probably a lot better now, and it probably wouldn't be too hard to write
an interface layer between the two systems. The different types of
matplotlib graphs would need to be exposed as objects, with a range of
properties.
If matplotlib has much better output than Veusz it may be worth
considering. It's worth pointing out that Veusz does use matplotlib's
contour routines currently.
