This would be OK for some things. We really want to see the line in most cases, and displaying all points gets too noisy. There is often mechanical ringing of a high rate test and this needs to be displayed in the trace. Also, we often display several traces on the same plot for comparison purposes. The markers are there to help in identifying which curve is which.
