I've added left-shift-points and right-shift-points options to the line
step settings. This draws the stepped line like left and right, but
shifts the points to the centre (in page coordinates) half way between
the real point position and the next (or last). It's a bit ambiguous
what to do with the end point, so I leave that where it is.
