I'm seeing the same thing, on OS X 10.8.2.
There's a new version 1.16.99.1, which works around this bug (hopefully). I
think the bugs in qt somewhere, but it's hard to identify where.
The new version does not seem to fix the bug for me -- it behaves just like
1.16.99.
Does this fix the problem? I've had to get rid of the splash completely.
