Tom,

I got to fish ONCE on Blue Lake, up there in the mountains. Beautiful
little lake full of 12"-16" stockers- all hungry for hoppers.

Owah (sp?) looked like a nice belly-boat lake, but it was crowded. Up in the
mountains to the east also.

There's a creek coming in to town on the east side, with a parking area.
Walk up that creek with some dries and bead-heads and work the under-cuts
and deep holes. Some wormers were bringing out some nice browns up to 16"
from that little creek.

I didn't get much time to fish- 12hr. days/6, and then we went to 12/7 for
the last months. Can't complain- the $$ was great. Got to do lots of
arrowhead hunting.

Got evacuated one night for a fire just west of our campground. Only reason
it didn't get us was that the wind was blowing the right direction. Huge
fire in a wilderness section of the valley- no homes lost- no injuries.
Suspected arson. Got lots of 'neat' photos.

On a side-note- fishing related...

I did order a handy-rifle in my S&W 50cal. to back up my bear-buddy pistol
for fishing Glacier Park. Hope I'll never have to use either, but fishing
is just more relaxing knowing I have a deterrent for becoming a
high-colesterol lunch for some hungry bear. I'm working with a bullet
loader to develop a flash-blast pistol-round that will be a deterrant
without harming the bear. Loud boom, big flash, and tiny surface pain (no
penetration). He did get my shot-pellet rounds made, so I can get a rabbit
dinner without blowing it up to sub-atomic-sized particles.

I'd like to here about your fishing in Moab. We go down for the
scenery, and I always take my pontoon boat out on Ken's Lake, an
impoundment south east of town which I think provides water for the
city.

The fishing there is always fun, with planted rainbows, crappie, bass
and and occasional brown that comes down from the river above. Since
I am usually in Moab with my wife (who doesn't fish) it gives me a
quick fly fishing fix during what would otherwise be a sight seeing
trip.

Did you go up into the Manti-La Sal national forest? What lakes did
you fish?

Tom
