MeddelandeNick,

I asked Dr Tom about this and he told me that there is absolutely no truth to
this story and that he has no idea how it could have started.
There have been some product shortages this season, mostly dry fly capes and
saddles in the Whiting (Hoffman) and Hebert/Miner lines. Their production
numbers have been increased, so that should be solved next season. There has
also been an unbelievable increase in demand for Spey rooster capes. Their
production numbers will also be raised for 2010 but this year's demand cannot
be met at the moment.

So, if the topic is still alive on the other forum it would be fair to give the
members the correct information. Do you have alink to that forum? Thanks.

Mart

  Subject: [VFB] Whiting Farms... problems??

  Here's a post from a Swedish fly-fishing forum (regarding a chickabou issue).
It was written inside quotation marks from the start, so it seems like someone
else has said it before him:

"Saddle hackles is a real problem right now. Last year Whiting, who is the
largest and almost the only source, got bugs among their animals and had to
kill off the majority of it and start over... which lead to that some products
disappeared from their stock (chickabou among them). Some times you can find
saddles when they have killed some "test animals", but aside of that you're
stuffed."

Maybe not 100% quality translation, but well good enough to say the same
thing as the Swedish one did.

However, a lot of stuff said there tend to be exaggerated a little bit and
since the quote was in Swedish, it might even have "grown" on its way over here
to begin with.

So, guys "over there", who are closer to the actual source... have you heard
anything about this?

  /Nick
