Here's a summury email.......basically a wrap-up of the retreat we helped with this past weekend. Below there are pics and video footage of the event. Btw, the show they took us to see on Sat. night was, "The Number One Hits of the Sixties." Just a bit corney, but it was fun, and i know the vets really appriciated it.

My final comments are the last in this e-mail. Hope you enjoy it and let me hear any comments you care to send my way! A letter from John Richerson (helped with cooking and guiding on Lake Taneycomo) Hi Rick, I just came back from the DAV here in Springfield. I visited with Richard (Rick) Polk the DAV Commander, and Ron the Treasurer, they still cannot put into words how much they enjoyed the weekend of fishing. There are 10 vets already that want to sign up for my fly tying class beginning in October. Rick has sure been pushing the program. I don’t know if he is on a fishing high, or just enjoyed watching the veterans that were with us go from withdrawn to visiting with everyone. We have opened up a whole new door for them. Rick said, “It had been along time since he really got to let his guard down and just relax and enjoy.” Ron said, “I just can't tell you how much I enjoyed everything.” This just goes to show that I now have some really great new friends out of the fellowship we enjoyed this weekend. For me personally, I had a very enjoyable time and was glad that I finally was able to help give back to Project Healing Waters. I am also living on a high that I got from helping my fellow Veterans. It has been along time since I was able to do anything for someone other than myself. I find myself really sore. Now mind you, I have only moved from my recliner to the fridge the last few days but, it is a great kind of hurt! Thanks again for all that you have done here in this area! Keep up the great work. Everyone appreciates all you do. John Richerson Missouri rep JOHN RICHERSON GOOD OL BOY LURES 1(417)865-2841 SPRINGFIELD, MO. Zachary Hoyt (Guide that worked with Veteran SSGt Norman Lott - Marine (ret)) "Thanks for such a great opportunity Rick. I had an absolutely awesome time that will never be forgotten. Friendships were forged that will never be lost." George Steffen (Guide that mainly worked with Seaman Ronn Carr - Navy (ret)) "Cool shots, Rick. I will never forget it. It would be great to get everyone's pictures in one place to share. When do we do it again?" Misako Ishimura (Japanese Fly Casting Team Captain, enjoyed fishing and conducted fly rod casting classes) "Rick, We (Mark Romero & herself) appreciated that you let us join to The Project Healing Water. Please let me know where to post my pictures." A letter from Sherry Henn, wife of an 875th Engineers, Arkansas Rick, I need a letter head so that I can give it to these donors. Getting started we got a goal to reach and there isn't time to waste. Thanks for including me in this wonderful program and I promise I will do all I can to help you get the funding you need to keep up the wonderful work you are doing. The trip to Brannson was awesome We loved it. I am getting phone calls on the fun raising already so please get me a letter head as soon as possible and when you do the trips i need to know how many usually go with a group so that I can start making boxes with fly's for the next one and will have the one going to Iraq sent to you with in a week. Thanks again, Sheri Henn PROUD WIFE OF AN AMERICAN SOLDIER SGT. RICHARD A. HENN GOD BLESS THE 875TH ENGINEERS Dear Project Healing Waters and friends, We truly had a wonderful time and couldn't have done it without everyone's help! The guys told me that they've never had such a great trip and Travis Dulaney caught close to 50 fish in 2 days. I, myself, caught 10 fish, most of which were over 16 inches and all Rainbow with the most beautiful colors. We had a lot of family members there fishing with the guides and other family and let me know just how much they really loved being there with the Veterans. One in particular, Sherry Henn, has already started a fund raising push to help PHW Southern Region continue our efforts! Below is a list of the guides that helped out. Feel free to send them an e-mail anytime and thank them. Bill Babler <whiterive...@msn.com> Eric Prey <focused.fish...@yahoo.com> George Steffen <twosets...@yahoo.com> Vince Elfrink <elfr...@cofo.edu> Don House <d...@bransonfishingguideservice.com> Zack Hoyt <zmh...@gmail.com> Dan Sears <dfse...@windstream.net> Chris Tetrick <fishh...@interlinc.net> We had rain all day on Saturday, however, most of the Veterans fished up til noon. After lunch, we moved to the hotel conference room and did some fly tying with Mark Romero and Dennis "Bear" Reed. Saturday night after dinner, we were given tickets to a Branson music show, "#1 Hits of the 60's" where they regognized all the guys from our group! It was quite a great time and they were all very enamored with the attention. Sunday, we started early and fished until noon. Marsha Lilley made us Mexican food and it was great! Sunday during dinner, we had the Wheat Brothers Band playing for us and then we moved onto to fly tying at the hotel again. This was the first trip I put together and have had several tell me how great it went! I couldn't have done it without Phil Lilley, Dan Sears and many more! This trip has given me renewed vigor for PHW and am already planning this event and more for next year. We have 1/2 dozen or so people getting ready to start major fund raisers and in-kind donations. If anyone needs more information or suggestions, please let me know. Thank you for the opportunities given to me and our Veterans through fly tying and fly fishing outings.
