Thanks Jim,
I just dumped all the Lance Taylor messages. Had saved them to open  later.

I opened one of the sources provided by Lance and my PC CRASHED! The source has
a trojan/virus within. I lost my screen/desktop,  Microsoft is investigating
the problem.

This is why I do not download videos, PPS or open attachments. A new PC with 6
gigs memory, and a 650 gig harddrive now has to be gone thru.

Hope you were unscathed.

Merry Christmas

Jim

May your GOD be your fishing partner.

I built a light box using Kyle Hand's instructions on the McFeathers.com site,
however I had a shadow behind bog streamers, so this year I picked up a ring
flash.  It solved the shadow problem and I can use it at shows with a piece of
mat board as a background.  Actually I watched someone photograph everyone
tying at Conclave and went to see just what he was using, sweet idea.

And don't look for a Brand name ring flash, the Nikon one is out of sight price
wise, but there are a couple of ones in the $100 area, that work just as well

More thoughts on this.

A DIY Light box for under $40. I know my buddy 'Pacres' built one simillar and
it works great. But I could not be bothered
to clutter my tying bench with more stuff.

And really, we are talking about photographing small flies here after all, a
piece of paper rolled into a tube could also work
as a 'Micro Light Box'. Check out this sample with a shiny lithium battery in
it for how well it works.

I personally use this contraption I had custom made for me, with an overhead
flourescent light, as my diffusor.

Finally, low-tech, simply place them on a flatbed scanner – which works best
for streamers,  buggers, etc.. with a white
gummy eraser to prop the lid up. Get great even lighting that way too.

Hope that helps.
