I have to concur. I’m involved in several forums, almost all business based; either IT or music. Generally, the only time I access them is when I need specific information or I get an e-mail that requires a response. Chat rooms can be interesting, but hard to hold a conversation w/ more than four people signed in. VFB works. If someone wants to spend the time to author & moderate a forum or chat room, I’d probably sign on for a bit, but not as a replacement to this list.

LOL Forums post your message immediately while mails can get problems and take hours... but on the other hand, if your girlfriend is downloading heavily and the router fails, your long forum message will get lost when you post it (grrrrrr), while your email software will keep it in the outbox until the connection is up again.
