Also, the higher the magnification number (a +2.5 is higher magnification
than +2), the less depth of field you have -- the range of the sharp focus
zone near to far.

I you feel the "blow-up" factor is unnecessarily large and also desire more
focus range, buy a lower magnification number.  I am reading that something
around +2 to +2.5 would be comfortable for fly tying.  Here's an explanation
