Don: I will put one in the mail today.
Thank you, Alan Di Somma Why is it that at class reunions you feel younger than everyone else looks? http://www.azflyfishing.net/ ----- Original Message ----- From: Don Ordes To: vfb-mail@googlegroups.com Sent: Tuesday, March 02, 2010 9:01 AM Subject: Re: [VFB] Was pine squirrel strips- now hare's mask??? 1. Anyone have a spare hare's mask that they don't need (any color), or even a piece of one? I just need a sample of the short spiky dubbing on top of the nose for the next fly show rope-fubbing demo's. I'd prefer the mask, but a bag of that dubbing would do also. 2. Doesn't look like the Sowbug is in the cards for me this spring, either. Either I have so much work I can't break free, or I have so little I can't afford to. Right now the latter seems to be the order of the day until the gov. allows the energy business back in business. 3. Bob Krumm (of the Blue Quill Angler) just wrote a nice article for the Billings Gazette on my rope-dub DVD. He's a well-know guide on the Bighorn River- http://www.bluequillflycompany.com/about_Bob_Krumm.htm DonO ----- Original Message ----- From: scott bearden To: vfb-mail@googlegroups.com Sent: Tuesday, March 02, 2010 8:40 AM Subject: Re: [VFB] Need a source for pine squirrel strips Thank you for the link. this was very timely for me. I wanted to buy a red fox squirrel skin just last night. My search came up with a few different suppliers who wanted $35+ for just one tanned hide! All signs point to an early spring and early bug hatches. Much preferred over last year, when it warmed very late and turned wintery early. It felt like our whole fishing season got compressed to July. Hope weather goes better for you. I need a source for inexpensive, quality pine squirrel strips, preferably on hide. There are roughly 15-19 cut pine squirrel strips per hide. The longest strip might be six inches long, the shortest maybe 4.5". I ordered two half skins from Feathercraft, but the order came to $21.85 including shipping. I can order full skins distributed by Wapsi through the local flyshop, but cost unknown at the moment, and probably a bit pricey. The local Wholesale Sports has some closeout Wapsi stripped full skins, but they are all a dark brown. But at $9.99 a full skin, seems reasonable. That's the price range I have found so far. Does anyone know of a quality source for DYED pine squirrel strips on hide? At a reasonable cost? Linesend.com does carry natural pine squirrel hides at $4.95, but they are not stripped and not dyed.
