I can't find Dave's original posts, but if it is a combo unit, a lot of those 
come with level fly line, and I have never been able to cast that crap. It 
almost made me give up fly fishing. Dave, check the line very close. It should 
start small in diameter for a few feet, then get larger in diameter for 
probably 30-50 ft depending on the type line, then go back to the thin diameter 
towards the backing. They should stop making it, Chuck

        Dave,  is the line clean?  try a dressing first  and then go up  aline 
weight.  i load my sage 4wt with a 5wt  wt. forward   doesnt like  the wt it 
calls for  but it likes the heavier line  not  awhole lot of difference  good
