"I always feel cheated when I catch a fish on a spinning rod, it only seems
like half a fish compared to the fight you feel with a fly rod."
Tom Davenport

I have felt that way just about every time I've caught a fish on conventional
gear. I used to spin-fish if the wind was too much. Now I wait for the wind
to die down so I can fly fish.
Unless I'm catching yellowfin tuna for the freezer, (or maybe halibut 100' down
someday?), I always opt for the fly rod. DonO

Yep, I was seduced by Jimmy. Caught that one with a grub on a football jig
head. I think I would have done better with my fly rod, but I was trying to
teach myself how to use gear and plastic. It doesn't seem to be taking
though. 90% of my fishing this year has been with my fly rod, whether in the
big boat or my kick boat. I always feel cheated when I catch a fish on a
spinning rod, it only seems like half a fish compared to the fight you feel
with a fly rod.

The chinstrap works about as good as it looks. Too much chin! (sigh)

Thanks for the tips on posting photos. Here is one of those "monster
bass" you were talking about, but this one wasn't done in photoshop, just the
lens of my iPhone, which is designed with a wide angle.<IMG_0517.jpg>

I didn't know the list server would let us post pictures, till I saw
Jerry's beautiful picture of his brown trout. Here is my best fish this
summer: A "Cranebow" caught at Crane Prarie Reservoir near Bend, Oregon,
(where I was visiting my nephew). I caught it on a size 12 black and red
Chironomid:
