Personally I would try rare earth magnets. They will probably only latch on to the guides since they are steel underneath (unless it has those Recoil guides), but their gripping power is amazing. If you have any old hard drives laying around inside lies one of the most powerful magnets you could ever hope for. It is the same concept as a mechanic's wand with the magnet on the tip to retrieve tools and parts that fell an engine bay or something like a 55 gallon drum of oil.
