Yeah I feel like I am 18 years old again. I am telling you I found the fountain of youth and now I am helping others do the same.
I don't mind being the list baby. It is an honor. We need more youth in our sport. Despite the aggravation it caused, A River Runs through it breathed new life into an industry that was probably on the brink of dying by giving a lot of 30, 40, and 50 yr old guys something different to take up than golf. It became trendy and probably saved a lot of small towns and fly shops that were struggling up to that point. I think we are slowly shrinking again. Kids just don't enjoy or have access to the outdoors as much any more. I think programs like Project Healing Waters and Reel Recovery and Casting for Recovery have helped bring in new people who are passionate about the sport whereas the attrition rate with kids and teens may be fairly low. But I still feel like our sport is shrinking.
