The advantages to leasing are typically the down payment is less & if you do it
as a business you can write more of it off on taxes. You can also roll the
least on a new vehicle when the least period is up. You still need to buy
insurance, & @ the end of the lease you can buy the vehicle for a reduced
rate, you don’t get to just keep it.

Just passing this on, Son in law and daughter leased a Mini Van, says he will
never do it again. They bought one last year instead of leasing again. I can'
tell you the reason for this.

Folks: This is off topic, but does anybody here lease their vehicles vs. buying
them?? If so, what pros/cons should I know??? We’ve been thinking of going that
route because there is a place here that leases new cars for $199 a month,
(count in all the “hidden” fees, taxes etc) then after “X” months, it’s yours
to keep. Pros I see are that it includes ALL maintenance including tires, oil
changes, brakes etc which can add up big time when you’re having to pay for all
that anyway. Plus, the price includes insurance as well I think. Surely I do
NOT know all the facts as we’ve never leased a car, but I’m getting too old to
work on cars, and my knuckles will at least thank me LOL..

The only con I can think of are are that you’re paying for something that is
not yours (yet, because for it to be “lease to own, you’d probably have to pay
8 yr or so on it). I had a father in law, and had a cpl cousins that ONLY lease
cars, because every three yrs they turn them in for a new model. They say it’s
the only way to go because if you pay cash, or take out a loan for a used
vehicle, it could be a lemon that you are stuck with paying who knows how much
in upkeep, so you may be paying $500-600 a month for the payment for 3-4 yrs,
plus maintenance since it would be my luck that a kid had it first and
hot-rodded it and NEVER changed the oil etc.

Anyway, this is a HUGE financial leap for us as we have never had a brand new
car/truck in any shape/form, or fashion, and I know we’d be basically “paying
forever”, but on used vehicles, like I said, you do that anyways, and without
the benefit of knowing the car’s background. Sure, you can run a “car fax” to
see if it’s ever been wrecked, but that don’t tell you if Jeff Gordon was the
previous owner, or if he EVER changed the oil, brakes, fluids, etc ect. Thanks,
Chuck
