Hi Bob, zbinawhile, great to hear from you. Below is what I’ve posted so far with a list of who’s signed up.
As I’ve done in the past, I intend to ‘judge’ them and reward a Fantasy Fly to the best of swap tier. (new news) Room for 6 more swappers. Will finalize the details (pretty standard) when the swap is full. Tiers: (re-updated as of 1/19 am) 1. Rick Zieger 2. Allan Fish 3. Neville Gosling 4. Chuck Alexander (are you still doing WW charity auctions?) 5. Don Ordes 6. Renr Zillman 7. Gary Webb *1 8. J Balmer 9. Ron Boutin 10. Alan Di Somma 11. Mel Hocken 12. Jack Harford 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. *1 I did that ‘drinks’ swap (I may have had a helper (yes)- hard to remember details of events). I’ll see if I can pull them out of my swap collection box, locate your PSQN, post a photo. I tied a Cherry Fizz, which was a giant red salmon egg with a fuse (for explosive strikes). Thanks Gary for the walk down memory lane. (I may be down to a cane pole while sitting on a lawn chair on a dock, Tenkara-styling it. But a PSQN would be a good choice then.) *2. I was thinking a light jig-style hook pattern for deeper water, too. (Tenkara approach) A dark pink or red bead could also serve as the yolk of a hot pink egg collar. Swap details: I am still in stroke recovery, but able to do more all the time- just need to keep my energy up. I found an interesting fly on the internet that would be a good candidate for a swap. It’s called a Pink Squirrel Nymph. Many of you are aware of it and have probably fished it. If you have fished it, a story can be added. Even crawfish like this pattern! Ye Rooles: (for IOFFers) 1. Role call for who’s still here- swapping or not. 2. List of those interested in swapping this easy and much-liked pattern. 3. Lots of photos on a search of images 4. Broad range of quarry fish 5. Very east tie, easily adaptable to rope-dubbing if you choose 6. Size 16 – 8 all one size or varied, style hook can vary 7. Gray body (your choice of dubbing), pink collar (any material suited for a collar per the photo archives) 8. Gold or silver bead 9. Any customization in keeping with the basic pattern 10 Number of swappers to dictate size of swap 11. Standard swap rules apply: toe tags, return SASE (some sort of pkg.) or Cash for return of flies. Recipes not needed unless you did something special. (Story?) Any extra flies will be donated to good charity. Will post a photo of all designs. Google images should pick it up. All comments welcome. Easy tie, great fly (famous even), lots of variations with a common theme. Any VFB swappers left? Will give it a couple of weeks for distance lurkers to check in. Maybe we’ll have a good-ol’ days VFB Swap. Does anyone have a cut-off point, how many tiers max? (The PSQN is a simple pattern, so tying a few extra should do your arsenal well.) I’m still working on holding on to a fly rod without being able to feel it in my hand. Good side of that- cheap fly rods ‘feel’ just like high dollar ones. I’m going to make a lanyard to attach the rod handle butt end to my wrist. Tiers: (as of 1/19 am) 1. Rick Zieger 2. Allan Fish 3. Neville Gosling 4.
