Larry,
you are right, fishing for carp can produce lots of adrenalin. I do not
pursue them regulary, but here in Europe fishing for carp has a long
tradition. - Probably our UK-members will chime in--
Carp fishing here is more bait fishing.
Carps can grow up to 50 pounds and more, imagine this with your experience
of 20lp fish.
3 years ago I had some fights with 2 schools of carps. I was able to hook 6
or 7 of them, but was unable to bring them to hand. 2 of them broke my 30
pound tippet !!!

Robert, I'd like to get in a Carp fly swap. For those folks who haven't
thrown a fly at carp yet, you don't know what you're missing. I started two
summers ago and have kicked myself in the backside ever since. Its a ten
minute drive from my house and I'm chasing 5 to 20 lb fish that will spool
you in a hearbeat. Chasing is the right word to describe fishing for carp.
They're some of the spookiest fish I've ever seen.
