The woodchuck is a burrowing vegetarian rodent.  They ones I see average 
around 7 pounds.  They are plentiful in many areas of the USA.  They are no 
match for automobiles.  They burrow in fields, and next to buildings.  Some 
find them cute, some find them bothersome and SOME find them very useful as 
a fly tying material.  Although they are not in the same family, they may 
share some characteristics (not the hair though) with your hedge hog.
